I had a wisdom tooth extraction procedure performed by Graeme Wright. As a result of this procedure my nerve was damaged which led to 3 months of numb lower teeth, chin, bottom lip and bottom gum. At the follow up appointment, five days later , with Mr Wright, the assessment of the injury was brief and rather crude, consisting of a single touch to the chin followed by the comment "you'll be fine, this will all heal". At 3 months the numbness ceased and transitioned into pain: burning, tightness and pins and needles. Upon another follow up review with Mr Wright, he dismissed my concerns of pain and reassured me that by 6 months this would all heal. This was not the case at the 6 month mark and to date, 2 years and 4months post-surgery, the injury has not resolved: I still experience pain on a daily basis which has negatively effected my mental health. A 12 month review took place at which I brought a family member for support. Mr Wright mocked me for bringing a "support team," an aspect of the overall experience that I found to be demoralising and incredibly unprofessional. At this review Mr Wright stated (in quite a patronising tone) "there's nothing you or I can do, it's now in the hands of the gods." Since that appointment I consulted another specialist surgeon for a second opinion concerning my ongoing injury. He said the nerve was sitting quite high and the the risk of injury was therefore increased and that an alternative procedure should have been recommended. This was something overlooked by My Wright and reflects his capacity to consult and accurately assess quite a straight forward procedure. I would advise seeking a second opinion regarding procedures such as these, prior to surgery, something I now regret. I would also not recommend Mr Wright for any dental procedure on the basis that he failed to identify the slightly higher position of my nerve. In the event that there is a complication, bedside manner is incredibly important due to the implications it has on mental health and should be discussed during the initial consultation. Throughout my experience Mr Wright clearly demonstrated his lack of compassion/bedside manner in addition to his overall attention to detail and unprofessionalism.

I made the mistake of having my 3 wisdom teeth taken out by a regular dentist and ended up with severe complications. After the extractions I had excessive bleeding for hours which I could not get under control and ended up in ER. I was sent home and the bleeding got worse. I saw my dentist the following morning and he referred me to Assoc. Professor Arun Chandu. He was very professional and understanding and immediately got the bleeding under control. He was also very gentle and thorough, which helped ease my anxiety and pain. It was a very frightening experience but I am very grateful for all the staff at Essendon day procedure. The ladies and Assoc. Professor Arun Chandu were amazing, so friendly and caring and they made me feel comfortable and in good safe hands. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Prof Arun Chandu. He removed my problematic wisdom tooth and cyst. Recovery was quick and easy. He's obviously a highly skilled dental surgeon. Reception staff can be a bit confusing at times.

Dr Patel is an absolute professional - had a complicated wisdom teeth removal surgery for both my teeth on the right side of my mouth - I've made a full recovery without any complication - Dr Patel was there every step of the way from the first consultation and all the way through to even after the surgery

I think I saw Dr Graeme. He knew what he was doing when I needed my wisdom teeth removed. I woke up and remembered nothing, so either I was in a coma, temporarily dead or fast asleep from the anasthetic
