  BEWARE of skin cancer surgery at the new Peter Mac. After skin graft surgery for lower leg squamous cell carcinoma, I had to spend 5 days in Ward 3, where 24 hours per day I had freezing cold air conditioning blasting on to me, and when I told the nurses how very cold I felt they completely ignored me. Those 5 days were an extremely uncomfortable ordeal and was followed by negligent and uncaring "post op care". Cold is not conducive to healing of a lower leg wound in a 72 year old patient and the excellent surgery by Dr Terry Wu has been completely wasted as now, after surgery on 8th March, I am left on 8th May with a chronic unhealed wound covered in yellow slough. Room temperatures should be set at a level which is comfortable for patients who have to lay in bed for 5 days and conducive to healing. I have never ever before suffered such discomfort in a hospital nor such atrocious post-op "care". On my last post op visit, I was told my chronic. infected wound would "get better by itself". So much for excellence at the new Peter Mac. More like excellence in neglect of patient needs.
